If you are in a Band that wants to have the opportunity of playing a Gig at Westwood Church then let us know.  We welcome your interest.  Normally we are looking for bands who are still in their teenage years but we can, and do make exceptions to this rule.  Use the Gig enquiry link on this page to send an email telling us something about yourselves and your Band.

The Duncanrig Hall which is used for the Gigs accommodates an audience of 150 (max).  We provide a reasonable sized stage (12' x 16') and all the neccesary PA and backline gear.  This means that young bands who do not have their own gear can benefit from a full set up. See below for details of the gear.

There are however some items of gear you will still need to supply.
1) All musical instruments and instrument cables, foot pedals/effects boards.
2) The drummer should bring his own snare, cymbals and stands (if extra are required) ,kick pedals & drumsticks!

Sound checks start at 5pm through till 7pm.  All band members should arrive for the start of sound checks and certainly no later than 6pm.  Simple rule - if you are not at the sound checks you may not get to play leaving your fans a little disappointed!  Each Band will have 30- to 45 minutes for their set which can be original tracks or covers or both - we don't mind!  Doors open at 7.30pm with the first band on stage at 8pm.

We do not ask bands to sell tickets just to advertise your gig as widely as possible to create the best audience you can.  All audience members pay at the door (typically £3).  Each band will receive payment from door money at the end of the gig.  We hope this to be in the region of £30 but it could be more or less depending on audience attendance.

Please note the church halls are a NO Smoking Zone.  Alcohol is not permitted either!

Drums

We use a Yamaha Stage Custom 5 piece kit.  Simple but effective!  Drummers should bring their own snare, sticks, kick pedals, cymbals and the like.

Guitar Amps

We use two Crate GT120 half stacks.  The 120 watt heads are running  Crate 4x12 350 watt cabs at 4ohms.  They are awesome! Guitarists are welcome to use their own head amps.

Bass Rigg

We use an Ampeg SVT6-pro head and Ampeg SVT 610HLF cab.  The Ampeg rig gives 600 watts of bass grunt - way more than enough for our hall and all the tonal variations a bassist could ask for.  A real classy piece of kit!!!  Use your own bass head if you wish.  The Ampeg cab is 600 watt and 4 ohmn.

PA System

The heart of the PA system is the remarkable Bose Radiator system which is placed behind the band.  There is no need for a monitor system as the band hear everything the audience hears.  Mixing desk is a Mackie Onyx 1640.  This will be upgraded in the future to utilise its Firewire card allowing recording direct from the desk to a computer system.  Live recordings can be mixed down afterward.  We wont be offering recording facilities as such but if you are looking for a rough and ready recording of your set or a simple recording of a new track for copyright purposes then this might be ideal. We'll keep you posted on developments.

Sound Engineer

We are tying in with students on the Sound Production courses at Riverside Studios Busby.  Those who are learning the skills of sound production and engineering will be mixing sound at the gigs.
